Our philosophy
Based in Bloomsbury London, Coptic is a boutique publishing venture established in 2008 by an informal circle of London-based writers, editors, business people and academics. It aims to promote radical, challenging and often provocative ideas in the area of global politics, business and social commentary. It attracts writers who are already respected in their fields but who seek closer, expert editorial support to test their views, help craft arguments and polish their prose.
Why now? Too many excellent ideas are overlooked by conventional or established publishers; and the talented writers and thinkers who are taken on often fail to get sufficient support. But changes in publishing technologies – online sales, print on demand, electronic books, and so on – can bring writer and reader closer together. That puts greater onus on the expertise and commitment of the publisher to provide intellectual guidance for the author and deliver genuinely innovative ideas to the reading public.
